Hello!
Here we go again!! Another compilation of cute, kawaii apps for you! Last post was a success. In fact, it was such a success, that I received enormous amounts of emails from app developers who wanted their apps to be included on my blog. Apparently, if you search for 'cute iPhone apps', my blog - Konayukiss Blog - it will pop out as one of the first top results on Google! What a blessing! Thank you all for being faithful readers. I will do my best again to compile as many cute apps as possible throughout the year.

As you all know, there are tons of apps out there in the iTunes app store. My job is to help you find Asian-based apps -- in particular, the kawaii ones.

Please support the developers; these apps are not easy to make. They have invested their time and money to create the apps for all to use. Any questions in regards to the apps, please direct them to the developer.

Note: Also, please see the app compatibly info before you download; some may not be compatible with all versions of iPod/iPhones/iPads. Most of these apps should be downloaded to iOS devices that are 4.0+ or 5.0+ (Occassionally 3.0+).

*The list does not reflect the ordering of my interest. I also apologize if the info are not updated. I am not endorsed by any of these developers to publish this entry; it is solely based on my discretion.

Feel free to give me your comments on the apps. Share what you feel will be a good addition to the list!

Click on the title of each app to be directed straight into iTunes App Store.
means 'must-have' apps.

- 3 stamp categories
- 28 different B.Duck images
- 24 different accessories
- 10 different emotion/particle stamps
- 10 different frames
- Freehand drawing
- Add text using different font and colors

What I think:
It's a cute idea. For those of you who like to add cute stamps over your pictures, this is the app for you. The app focuses a lot on ducks -- so if you don't like ducks -- pass on this. I actually like it a lot. It's bubbly and adorable. Check out mine: link.

Requirements:
Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad.Requires iOS 4.1 or later.

Free
http://www.voozclub.com/canimalworld/

Descriptions:
Full function calendar.
CANIMALS diary comes complete with a scheduler, quick memo, monthly summery and period diary for women. You can customize your own diary using various kinds of skins featuring 6 of the CANIMALS characters, decorate with cute icons with other functions.

What I think:
Very cute! It has a lot functions like iCal, but with more additional markers. The only downside is that the calendar feels rather packed (squished?). Don't get me wrong, it's useful -- especially for girls. However, I'm not quiet sure if this app is uni-sex-able. Thanks to aivee for recommending.

Requirements:
Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad.Requires iOS 4.0 or later.

RAKUGA-Cute
Free
http://decopika.jp/sp/Rakugacute/web/apphtml/index.html

Descriptions:
Photo decorations.
Graffiti Tools
-Pen
-Stamp
-Roll Stamp
-One-touch
Brightness toggle, Enlarge/Reduction,
Crop, Mosaic, Monochrome, Filter, Collage

What I think:
If you like Puricue/Purikura styles photo, you'll love this! The brightness toggle is amazing (the secret)! Also, if you love putting together pictures, the collage option is the best. It doesn't constrict you to a specific space/box like other apps, which I think makes this app a great download!
Downside: Everything seems a bit small for the bigger fingers; so fat fingers - beware!

Requirements:
Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad.Requires iOS 4.2 or later.

My Dog Note
Free

Descriptions:
Memo/Notes.
- Phone number record & save while talking on the phone.
- Photo.
- Quick hand-writing memo.
- Memo.
- Check lists / Shopping lists.

What I think:
It's a great idea. I think this fits more for iPad or Mac than for iPhone/iPod. I really like the hand-writing capability and the shopping list. So far, this app definitely has the potential to be known. I hope you guys can share it to your friends and make this iTunes top 25 apps! It's a really great app if you want to be organized. A must download!

Requirements:
Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad.Requires iOS 4.0 or later.

Free

Descriptions:
Game.

What I think:
I'm very surprised that this game didn't get any reviews at all. I hope by sharing this app with you guys, you can rate/comment on the app store. There are two types of Mr. Hide on the app store -- the one I mentioned here is a free version. Make sure you download the Naked Escape version or just click the link on the title to get the free version. I actually like the game because the idea of having a naked man running around town is rather amusing. Although the mission is rather repetitive (hiding him using items), it has a pretty good story line -- oh, and cute characters.

Requirements:
Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad.Requires iOS 3.0 or later.

Roo Roo Run
.99¢
http://www.runroorun.com/

Descriptions:
Game.

What I think:
This game is pretty fun, and it'll make you go crazy when the level gets higher (obviously). It's addictive! Difficulty level: Medium (personally). Sorry, it's not a free app! I just think this app deserves to be here!

Requirements:
Compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPod touch (3rd generation), iPod touch (4th generation) and iPad.Requires iOS 3.1 or later.

Japan Life
Free
http://www.nubee.sg/

Descriptions:
Game.

What I think:
If you like Farmville-type of games, you'll love this. Instead of a farming game, you'll get to build, upgrade, and visit other towns (social game). The theme is Japanese life (hence, the title). I think this game is soooo cute. I love how accurate they are with the resemblance of Japanese artifacts/goods. So good. Give it a try!

Requirements:
Compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPod touch (3rd generation), iPod touch (4th generation) and iPad. Requires iOS 3.1 or later.

Tiny Jump
Free

Descriptions:
Game.

What I think:
I think the characters are so adorable! (First thought)
When I started playing, I can't let go of this game! It's addictive! Warning. Your goal is to get as many apples/fruits? Don't worry, it's not that hard. The character has a little arrow on top that will eventually guide you. Also, you can play and compete with others!*  Definitely a must download!
*You have to create a login account with Handfere to compete and watch replays.

Requirements:
Compatible with iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, iPod touch and iPad. Requires iOS 3.2 or later.

Kawaii/Cute iPhone Camera Picture Decor Apps ✰

Hi fellow bloggers & readers!
I know I've been gone for a while now. I apologize for my MIA. I suppose I owe you guys with some great posts, right? ◕ ‿ ◕

This post will most likely benefit the ladies only (more than the gents- sorry). Since most of my readers are girls, I'm pretty sure they'd appreciate this. I know how much you girls love cute/kawaii apps! How do I know this? Because most of my views are generated from the post I made a year ago --- where I listed all the kawaii iPhone/iPod apps I recommended trying out.
Want to check it out? Click here. It covers mainly on the cute/kawaii Korean/Japanese iPhone apps.

Now, I'm making a post focusing more on the iPhone/iPod/Android photo editing apps. You know, the cutesy ones that you use to amplify your photos from BORING to AWESOME. Most of these apps are free (if not, all). I make sure that I get you guys the best-free apps out there for photo editing, but I make no promises if you would like them as much as I do. I am in by no means responsible if the price and/or device requirements change without notice.

So here goes -- the post has no particular order of interest:

プリ系写真デコ DECOPIC

I feel that this app is one of the most cutest new photo editing app I've ever seen. I feel that this app has the potential to reach large audiences (in particular, the girls) to love their apps. Hence, why I am sharing this app with you. The main language is in English. It has Japanese themes of picature, pikapika, and cuepics types of sticker pics. I think you guys will enjoy this app. Here's the direct link to where you can download this app on iTunes: click here. For Android users: click here. If you've tried it, let me know how you think.

Requirements: Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch (4th generation), iPad 2 Wi-Fi, and iPad 2 Wi-Fi + 3G. Requires iOS 4.2 or later.

인스탁스 (Fuji Instax App) By KOREA FUJIFILM

This is an app version of the real Fuji Instax mini camera by Fujifilm. Checkout my post about the Fuji Instax Mini camera: click here | information link. The main language is in Korean. But don't worry, it's not that hard to guess which buttons to tap; they have icons next to them. You know those old classic Polaroid pictures you used to have/know? Well, this camera creates a mini version of it (wallet-size), and now Fujifilm created a virtual Polaroid pictures for your iPhone! Checkout my preview pictures below to see how it will turn out.  Let me know if you like this app! For iTunes: click here. Android users: Unknown.

Requirements: Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch (4th generation), iPad 2 Wi-Fi, and iPad 2 Wi-Fi + 3G. Requires iOS 4.0 or later.

*pictures below taken from: link

Instagram By Burbn, Inc.

I think this is one of the most popular photo editing app out there. I definitely love this app! I think this app was the first to start the generation of photo editing on the iPhone, and later on all other devices. I'm pretty sure there were other ones out there, but this app was the breakthrough, imo. If you guys already have this app on your iPhone, then you can move on to another app. For those who has never tried this app, trust me, give it a try. 5-star app couldn't be wrong, right? Main language: English. For iTunes direct link: click here. Android users: Unknown.

Requirements: Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. Requires iOS 3.1.2 or later

푸딩 카메라 By KTH

This app was one of the most requested app on my blog. I noticed that not many of you can understand the Korean writing. Well, now you know. It's called the Pudding Camera app. I really like the changing option for camera rolls (see image below). Main language: Korean. Don't worry, you will understand the process of taking a picture, changing camera functions, and saving into album; there are icons next to them. For iTunes: click here. Android Users: click here.

Pixlr-o-matic By Autodesk Inc.

This photo editing app is somewhat like the instagram but gives a little more grungy - retro/vintage look. Pretty cool if you're into changing the color effects, lighting, and adding frames, etc. Give it a try, it might suit you. It might not give the "cute" look to your picture, but it will definitely give a cool looking picture.  Main language: English.
*The link I provided above (under the picture icon) will take you to the computer version of Pixlromatic. Give it a go to see if you like it before you download it to your devices.
For iTunes: click here. For Android users: click here.

Requirements: Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. Requires iOS 4.0 or later.
Requirements: Android 2.1 and up

美图秀秀

So this one is by far my most cherished app. I saved it for last! It has crop, blur, collage, effects, sparkles, etc. All the editing tools you need to make your pictures AMAZING. I can't stress it enough; this is my favorite. Main language: Chinese. But don't worry, again, they make their navigation very user-friendly. *If you want to give it a try, download their computer program. They have it available on the website (link under the icon image). For iTunes: click here | homepage. Android users: click here

This blogger did a good job summarizing the how-to's: click here.

Requirements: Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. Requires iOS 4.0 or later.
Requirements: Android 2.1 and up

Well, these are my top choices for photo editing iPhone/Android apps.
I'm sorry if I can't cover the WP7 apps, I'm not really familiar with WP7 just yet. Let me know what you guys think! If you guys want to share your apps here, comment on here! I'd appreciate feedback and comments!

All About Japan! Guide to the Virtual Learning!

Cheers to Japan!
Since I know a lot of people who are into the Japanese cultures, anime, manga, and all other aspects of Japanese, I would like to make a contribution by posting an all-out blog about Japan-- how, when, where, and what. Also, since I'm part Japanese myself, I'd like to definitely help others out there who are also mix bloods like me, and have lost touch with their "Japanese"-ness. Hello!

Free Travel to Japan?!

Here we go:
First, I'd like to go ahead and share the news about the possibility of YOU going to Japan. Yes, YOU. One of my friend shared this news via Facebook, and caught my attention, which in turn made me want to share this with you. According to Danny Choo's Blog, "the Japanese ministry of tourism is going to invite 10,000 foreigners to Japan - and pay for your travel." Apparently, after the earthquake, travels to Japan have been decreasing, and they would love for you to come back and experience Japan in its entirety-- with a new perspective and mindset. Wouldn't you love to participate in this matter? Here's the scoop. Go to Danny Choo's blog and participate in their survey, and follow their news blog. The application has not started, but keep on a look out on the Japanese Tourism website: http://www.jnto.go.jp/eng for any news and updates. This is Danny Choo's blog about the Japan Free Travel: DannyChoo.com. Go ahead and check out his blog too! I'm pretty sure, it will entertain you as it has for me.

Here's a snippet of what he posted on his blog:

"Applications will be done through the internets and folks will be invited during 2012. Applicants need to submit their travel plans for when they are in Japan and if the government thinks that you truly intend to visit (and not overstay as an illegal immigrant) then they will pay for your return ticket.
The Japanese governments strategy for this plan is that they expect travelers to blog and use social media to spread the word about their experience in Japan which should hopefully lead to more folks visiting Japan.
The amount of foreigners visiting Japan since the earthquake and nuclear accident has decreased a ton - some prefectures like Yamagata have experienced up to 80% drop in overseas visitors.
The Japanese government is spending 1.1 billion yen on this project."
Pretty cool, yeah? Now go check it out. See, plan, and share this to others, so they might also have a chance!

Beginners, Newbies, Learners

As I have said this before, I am also a Japanese beginner. I don't know much about its language, much less about the Japanese culture --- not 100%. For those of you who are not fortunate enough to learn Japanese in your high school, university, etc. here are some of the best compilation of sites in which I find very helpful to increase your knowledge in Hiragana, Katakana, and Kanji. No, what about grammar? Oh yes, for English speakers, this will be a tough one, because their grammar styles are not similar to how English is spoken. You'll understand why when you see it. I'm not an expert myself, so please do not rely solely on the websites I recommend. There are hundreds of great websites out there for beginners Japanese learners. Use your Google search engine! :)

Websites
  1. http://www.jlpt.jp/e/
  2. http://nihongoichiban.com/
  3. http://www.jpf.go.jp/e/index.html
  4. http://www.tanos.co.uk/jlpt/aboutjlpt/
    • Go to the left menus and select your level.
  5. http://www.jlptstudy.com/

Here are explanations: N1-N5 are the levels of proficiency you are in. If you believe that you have SOME levels of practice in Japanese, go to N2-- N1 is literally for basic hiragana or for those of you who want to review your knowledge. If you have a strong foundation in reading and understanding Hiragana/Katakana, go to N3/N4/N5. It depends on your level. Try them out; if they're too hard, go a level lower. I believe that if you really want to learn and can put your mindset into something, you will achieve it. Just like learning Japanese, no matter how old you are, you are still capable of learning. Don't give up, ok? Oh, there are tons of "print outs" available for you to practice writing. The answer to learning is in practice.

If you have ANY questions about any of the websites I mentioned above, please let me know. I may be able to help you navigate through the sites to help with your needs.

On mobile, on particular the iPhone, I have a couple of suggestions. Do not pay for an app you do not know anything about. I have a couple of free ones that deserve a 5-star, and the quality reached beyond what you probably can receive from a paid app. No, I do not go against app developers who want to charge for their apps, I'm just saying that there are good ones out there, and they are free. However, if you do believe that you know an app that is great, and you paid for it, great! Share with us!

Apps
  1. J Phrases
    • I feel like this app is very comprehensive on their Japanese basics. They give you study cards, lessons, and quizzes to get you geared up for your daily Japanese learning. On top of that, they cover the hiragana, katakana, kanji, grammar, and all other necessities to get you started (they also give in a little kick on some of the slangs and idioms native Japanese people use, so you might sound smarter and not so much like a foreigner when you go to Japan, hehe). Forget those basic "learn Japanese in 1 day" books, you've got this app that will do the trick! On top of that, it's good for your iPhone and iPad! Check out their website: Kotobainc.com
    • If you like it, support their full version; It's ad-less!
  2. Learn 日本語
    • This is probably one of my favorite "books" to read for getting you in touch with some basic grammar. I do have SOME Japanese background in reading H/K/Kanji, but I need grammar help still. Try it out! They cover the "writing system" (which is also helpful if you need help with the basics), Basic Grammar, Essential Grammar, Special Expressions, and Advanced Topics. Oh boy oh boy! They're free too! They give comprehensive details like a textbook, but in an app form. Great, huh? Homepage link: here.
  3. Nihongo Up (Game)
    • This is basically a game that you do if you feel like reading Japanese basics are just not enough. Go play some games (shooting, fill-in-the-blanks, etc) to get your knowledge tested. Not bad for a review. Homepage link: here
  4. JA lite
    • Yes, this is a lite version. It's already very helpful, by itself being a lite version. This will suffice by itself- until you're done.
  5. Kotoba
    • This is by far the most important app that you can find. The dictionary! And most of all, it's free! The best "paid"-like app that you need to have if you plan to learn and understand Japanese.
Here's to more apps listed by reddit: link

Know this, there is not one good app that will satisfy your every needs. If you want convenience from the touch of your hands, you will need multiple apps to get started. All of the apps I've mentioned above are not sufficient by itself. You need practice, which websites will provide with the most extensive exercises to get you writing and writing and writing. Japanese is not something that you can learn in an instance-- so learning "Japanese in ONE day" is a bogus. There's just no way, unless you're some incredible, crazy, genius. Which I believe you are :D So now, get going!

Alright! I hope you guys can somehow benefit in one way or another! It's been a pleasure to share this news with you. Oh, the Japanese free tour also has been announced by Yahoo! and Telegraph, so it's definitely not fake. Trust me, I'm as giddy up as you are to have learned about this news! I wish I can get chosen, because I'd definitely would loveeeee to go to Japan to visit & tour-about! Hope you and I can get chosen! Stay tuned!

Do you guys know that there are lots of...

Cute Japanese & Korean iPhone/iPod/iPad apps?
(Asian-programmed app -- I'm not saying US made apps are not cute...)

Sadly, not many people are able to find them in the midst of the hundreds and thousands of apps on iTunes added daily.
I am the queen of finding cute apps (self-proclaiming, lol)!
Fear not, I will try to find them and let you know if they're worth it to buy/download.

Some are free (for limited time) or free (permanently); Otherwise, you can always purchase them from the iTunes app store.

Please support these programmers; these apps are not easy to make. These people invest their time and money to create the apps for all to use. Any questions in regards to the apps, please direct them to the developer. Also, please see the compatibilities before you download; some may not be compatible with all versions of iPod/iPhones.
Note: Most of these apps should be downloaded to iOS devices that are 3.1+ or 4.0+.

Click on the title of each app to be directed straight into iTunes App Store site.
*This list does not reflect in the order of my interest.
I also apologize if there are any info that were not updated. I haven't updated this blog entry in almost half a year. I am not endorsed by any of these developers to publish this entry; it is solely based on my interest.

What it does:
It's like Purikura, Puricute-- the app adds glitter, cute decals into your picture to add a touch of "cuteness."

What I think:
It's a cute idea, but I can find better. Nonetheless, this app is free. It doesn't hurt to try. Some apps might suit you, and others do not. I do not find this app suitable to me. Let me know how you like it-- that is, if you decide to download and try.

What it does:
This app is probably, by far, my most cherished app. I love this app. It contains 8 different camera and 8 different film types embedded within an app: Basic, Snap, Panorama, Fantasy, Motion 2x2, Motion x4, Fisheye, Motion x2; Basic, Vintage Brown, Vintage Blue, Vignetting, Dazzle, Mono, Noir, Vivid.

What I think:
I love it. The only downside to this is that this app is in Korean-- literally. You've got to guess your tapping skills to see which is which-- I'm kidding. This app is kind of a no-brainer; there are icons on the top of every Korean writings to let you know if you click on an "email" icon, you'll be directed to an email app to send, and so on. The photo effects are amazing! Not bad for a free app.

You just basically need to know the three last icons from the left.
The twitter/facebook icon, email icon, and the delete one-- yay!

What it does:
Megu is a pet-raising game. You feed and interact with your Megu (the pet) daily; as you gain money (and level up), you can buy better food, furniture, and a bigger house for your Megu. The pets' physical look changes as you level up (some cute, and some not so very cute). Not to mention, you can interact with others' pets via Twitter/Search. Add me at Konayukiss - Username via Search! You can smack/pat my pet :)

What I think:
Have you ever played TAMAGOTCHI? It's exactly like it-- well, without the annoying noises telling you that your pet is hungry/thirsty/near dying... Megu took it to the next level, modernized it, and brought it to U.S. from Japan! I really like it. It's so cute! --Update July 16, 2011-- They added "Ball Toss" to play ball with your Megu!

What it does:
You hold the medium fat cat on the top of the screen and drop him into the screen to bounce around like a jelly to get sushi. The goal is to make him as FAT as possible so he can save his baby girl from an evil dog.

What I think:
This game is SO adorable. Yet again, what's not to love! This game is offered by Armor Games. I was addicted to this game for so long-- and I even waited for the sequel to come out. I find the game to be very entertaining-- especially if you want to kill time. This game is currently .99¢ on iTunes; sometimes, Sushi Cat is offered free for your iPhone/iPod-- catch it when you see it. You can also play this game on PC/Mac via link. Let me know how you like it.

What it does:
It's a picture decorator app. It's in Korean (sorry!), but it's so cute!
Here's a preview: link. Again, this app is "somewhat" easy to understand (even if you don't understand Korean-- neither do I). Here's what it looks like from my end:

You see the tabs on the bottom?
(from left to right) Home, Frames, Decals, Add Text, Save as...
What I think:
This is a really cute app. If you love adding cute stuff to your picture (mostly girls heheh), then this app is definitely for you. I know the writings are in Korean, but if you go to Purikura/Puricue, they're all in Japanese! Don't let it stop you from getting this app! :) Definitely a keeper.

What it does:
Your goal is to create as many of those jobs available to these 8-bit characters. As you decide, you can choose which category to build from: Recreation, Food, Service, Retail, Creative. Each of these categories have "jobs"; for example, you chose Food-- Sushi/Sky Burger/Diner/etc will pop randomly. You want to create apartments for people to live; once they arrive, you find out what their stats are like, and see if you can give them their dream job. YES, it's in 8-bit, which makes it even better and cuter!

What I think:
I'M OBSESSED WITH THIS GAME. Not to mention, it was also chosen for the App Games of the Week. Trust me, it's worth it. It's a 5-star game! Don't worry about those people who rated it a one-star; they don't see eye-to-eye with the rest of the app users (kidding). If you want a time-killer, this game is for you. Want something cute? This app is for you. NO 3G/WiFi needed to play the game-- even better! Add me: konayuki28, if you want to see my building!
(No, this app is not Japanese/Korean/Chinese-- as it is claimed by my title)

What it does:
You try to pop these cute creatures; make sure they're in 3s+. The more you pop, the better the chance for you to gain the stars-- because you have a goal. Your goal is to gain 100+ stars; it increases at every level. Go faster! Or you can use the powerups to make your game even better!

What I think:
This game is definitely addicting. Oh, when you pop them, you get star points, and they even make cute/strange/funny sounds. Anyways, I got this app for free when they did the promotion freebie with FreeAppsADay. I don't know if they'll be doing another promotion anytime soon, but in the mean time... go download it!

The Rainy Day
Free

What it does:
This app is about a guy who supposedly left his umbrella at home because he heard that it was going to be sunny. Apparently, it started to rain. Your goal is to get him home safely without being "too" drenched; you have a water gauge. Make sure you get him away from obstacles that will jeopardize his "safety."  You need to get away from boxes, cans, and thunder. You want to save the lost cats and dogs. Also, try to get coffee, umbrella, ufo hat, etc... to decrease/help/protect your water gauge.

What I think:
I think this game has potential. It's really adorable; the art is well drawn. I gave it a 4.5 star :) It's pretty fun... though the game ended fairly quickly.

The Rainy Day 2

Free | A sequel to the one above.

Screenshots:

What it does:
This game is a sequel to the first one-- above-- but better. Notice the controls? It's more defined. Instead of saving the cats and dogs while you walk/run/sprint, you will need to grab posters on the wall, get the cat/dog, and direct them to the animal clinic.

What I think:
In my opinion, I think this game is being "more" realistic as compared to the first one. I like how the buttons are more defined too. Definitely better-- worth the download.
